HOT STONE REFLEXOLOGY HEREFORD
Take relaxation to a deeper level with hot stones. An incredibly indulgent treatment which enhances the benefits of a conventional reflexology treatment.
The use of hot stones in healing treatments has been around for centuries. Hot stones have been shown to lower cortisol levels and support the parasympathetic nervous system which helps the body reverse its ‘fight or flight’ / stress reaction.
This treatment involves using smooth stones which are heated and used to massage the lower legs and feet, with the temperature tailored for each client. The key difference with Hot Stone Reflexology is that I tend to see a faster response when stones are used to heat the body.
Hot stones are loved by my clients with the heat enabling the body to relax at its deepest level. Heat promotes relaxation and allows me to work at a deeper level to support the balancing and healing of your body and mind.
BENEFITS OF HOT STONE REFLEXOLOGY
All the benefits of conventional reflexology and in particular:
Improves circulation and fluid retention
Strengthens the immune system and enhances the elimination of waste products and toxins from the body
Reduces muscle tension and helps release tension in connective tissue
Reduces stress, promotes restful sleep and relaxes the mind and body
Supports recovery from injury, improves flexibility and motion and treats and manages pain
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT
Hot Stone Reflexology treatments usually last for 90 minutes. Your first treatment will take a little longer and includes a preliminary health and lifestyle consultation. This will allow me to develop a tailored treatment plan which will vary for every client.
Treatment plans can be discussed during the first appointment or you can contact me afterwards. Please note that a ‘treatment plan’ refers to a suggested number of appointments not a financial commitment.
All you will need to do is remove your socks and shoes and relax in a reclining reflexology chair that has been ergonomically designed to support your back.
With hot stone reflexology, first, I use the stones to heat and massage your lower legs working then with the stones and fingers to heat and apply gentle pressure to the reflex areas on your feet. The heat penetrates the muscle tissue allowing me to work your reflex points deeply. These reflexes correspond to the different systems, organs and anatomical areas in your body.
Depending on your reason for having Reflexology, it is likely that a course of treatments could be recommended to ensure you get optimum benefit from the therapy.
Hot stones are not for everybody and there are some conditions where heat would not be recommended, including skin conditions that can be aggravated by heat such as dermatitis or when there is inflammation such as with rheumatoid arthritis.
