Come rain or shine, it is so good for us to spend time outside. Countless studies have proved this.

They've shown that being in nature improves our productivity, reduces stress and promotes happiness.

Even if you live in an urban area, find a park or greenspace with trees and take a breath of fresh air.

What will you do out in nature today...

- morning or midday walk?

- dine al fresco?

- outdoor yoga?

If you can't get outside, take a look at pictures of plants or landscapes which can also bring similar benefits.

Many of us can get into the habit of breathing only with our chest. This is far less efficient than diaphragmatic (belly) breathing.

Diaphragmatic breathing has loads more benefits as well:

  • Helps you relax and lower stress levels

  • Slows your rate of breathing

  • Can help to lower your heart rate and blood pressure

  • Helps improve improves your core muscle stability

How to Belly Breath:

  • Sit or lie flat in a comfortable position

  • Put one hand on your belly (just below your ribs) and the other hand on your chest

  • Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out

  • Breathe out through pursed lips as if you are whistling

  • Do this breathing 3 to 10 times

I hope you start to notice the benefits - it does take practice!

If you feel thankful, write it down. It's great for your health!

It doesn't have to be the big stuff. It could also be your life's little blessings.

Journal when it feels right for you (daily, weekly, in the morning, last thing at night) - the benefits are really worth it:

- helps you focus on what really matters

- helps you learn more about yourself and become more self-aware

- lowers stress levels - night-time journal is especially great for inducing calm before sleep

- reminds you of what is important to you and what you truly appreciate in life

And hey, gratitude is free - amazing!

Imagine how great it would feel if we reminded ourselves of all things to be grateful for in our lives every day?

What are you grateful for today?
