What better reason for getting lost in a book - it's been found to be hugely beneficial for our mental health.

Take time today to pick up a book and let it take you to another place. Enjoy the calm it brings you, as well as the wisdom, humour or suspense!

If you're a regular reader of books, why don't you send your top recommendations to friends and family or post your suggestions here!

Have I persuaded you? I hope so.

Happy reading!

Ok, so I am no artist! But that doesn't matter because the beneficial effects of creating aren't dependent on our talents!

Plus there are some really great resources out there such as http://www.robbiddulph.com/draw-with-rob who talks you through, step by step how to draw some of his amazing illustrations.

Creating visual art - painting, doodling, sketching and so on, can reduce stress and promote relaxation and foster healing and mental well-being.

Art is also a great way to develop the whole brain - that's awesome! It's been proven to increase attention, strengthen focus, improve creativity and much more.

It also supports our emotional intelligence by supporting the expression of feelings that we sometimes may not be able to put into words.

I'd love to see your creations!

With around 70% of our immune system in our gut, it makes sense to feed ourselves an array of nourishing foods, right?

Also known as our ‘second brain’, our gut influences our mood, health - mental, physical and emotional, and how we feel about ourselves.

I’m not a nutritional expert, I’ve just got a passion for great nutrition. And I do know that this isn’t is about increasing my intake, rather increasing variety throughout the week.

How many food items have you got to so far today?

If you’re looking for expert nutritional advice, I can highly recommend Lisa Quinn @lt.fitness (base in Hereford) who offers Nutrition for Health Courses for groups as well as a full nutritional MOT on a 1:1 basis. All of Lisa’s courses are focused on future proofing against diet related disease: https://m.facebook.com/LTFitness73/
